I have copied Ancestry search results for many spelling variations of the Gardenier surname (all the spellings which I would normally search). I believe all of these spellings are possible for people who descend from Jacob Janse Gardenier, alias Flodder who arrived in New Netherland (later New York State) in 1638.
The images below are presented in alphabetical order of the Gardenier spelling. I also record the spellings for which there were no military personnel. Since a search engine cannot read text on an image, every spelling which was searched is typed below. Results of spellings such as Gardiner and Gardner are not provided here, because there are so many people with those spellings, and very few are Gardenier in origin. Occaionally, however, a Gardenier is recorded as Gardiner or Gardner, and in a few cases, the Gardeniers took those spellings and kept them. I seldom research those spellings, however.
Due to difficult handwriting, many spelling variations of Gardenier and its derivatives can exist. I'm not suggesting that people actually used all of the spellings listed below, but those are the ones for which I search while doing my research.
